Green Smoothie Awesomeness

What exactly makes a Green Smoothie Awesome? My Green Smoothie is AWESOME because of how it makes me feel after drinking it. Not only is this green smoothie quick and easy, it really does taste good. It is incredibly filling and the shot of natural energy I get with the green smoothie really helps me in my weight loss plan.

After my cancer diagnosis, I purchased a Green Star cold press juicer that was around $400 so I could make fresh carrot juice each morning. I had been reading a lot of material on Cancer and juicing fresh carrot juice. Each week I bought a big bag of carrots and would make carrot juice every morning. Soon realized this was a lot of work.

My husband was out at Walmart of all places and noticed they sold Organic Carrot Juice in a container that had already been cold pressed. With a price of $6, this was an awesome find. There are a few grocery stores that also sell cold pressed carrot juice, but I like the one at Walmart because it’s Organic.

Obviously, the base of my awesome green smoothie is organic carrot juice. Why do I call it my green smoothie when carrot juice is orange? Great question. I add Fresh Kale to the carrot juice because kale is packed with vitamins and minerals. Fresh kale has: Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Vitamin B1/B2/B3/B6, Manganese, Calcium, Copper, Potassium, Magnesium, and Iron.

I also add some Organic Pea Protein to help increase my protein intake. Each serving of the Pea Protein powder provides 15 grams of protein. Protein is my friend that keeps me from feeling hungry and is a big part of my weight loss plan. A lack of protein is why most feel hungry between meals.

To add a little sweetness to my green smoothie, I like to add some Fresh Fruit. You can choose to put whatever fruit you like for taste. I usually add fresh peaches or fresh mango to my smoothie, which really does make it taste good.

I will also add Fresh Ginger to my green smoothie. You may or may not know this, but ginger has some crazy powerful antioxidant properties that will help reduce inflammation. I buy a chunk at my local grocery store.

Last but not least, I always add an Organic Liquid Vitamin to my green smoothie. Research has indicated that a liquid vitamin will be absorbed better than let’s say a vitamin in the form of a pill you swallow or a chew-able. As a pescatarian, adding the liquid vitamin ensures I am getting as many vitamins as possible.

How exactly do I make my Awesome Green Smoothies?

  1. NutriBullet

I have been using the NutriBullet for years now. It’s an ideal product for making my green smoothies. The price has come down quite a bit from when I originally purchased. If you have a blender or something similar, that will work as well. All of the ingredients go into the NutriBullet.

  2. Organic Carrot Juice

    Amount: 2 cups

Like I said, I buy the organic carrot juice locally at Walmart. I am sure there are other grocery stores that also carry it. Surprisingly, Whole Foods no longer sells cold pressed carrot juice. I guess they prefer you buy the 20 pound bag of carrots instead.

    Amount: 2 scoops

After the organic carrot juice, I will add the organic pea protein. The 365 brand comes with a scoop inside the container. I usually add two scoops to the NutriBullet container.
